Could you be a volunteer ‘buddy’ for an adult with learning disabilities?
Learning Links is a charity based in West Sussex that help adults with a learning disability to access social activities and community-based education courses by providing volunteer ‘buddies’ to accompany them.
We need people of all ages who would like to be a volunteer buddy to accompany one of our ‘students’.
It would only take a small amount of your spare time during the day or in the evening.
It could be an occasional commitment to a social event, or a one-day class, or maybe a more regular commitment accompanying and supporting a ‘student’ on a learning course (in which you also have an interest) for two hours a week.
Empathy, a sense of humour, being open to new experiences, and reliability are what our students are looking for in a buddy.
You don’t need to have had any previous experience as we will give you all the training and support that you will require.
There is a wide range of activities in which you could choose to be involved, and we will always pay for your course fees, travel and out of pocket expenses.
As a buddy you would have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of another person.
You would also have the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.
Being a buddy won’t cost you anything apart from your time.
